(from my adventures in France)
Did you know that at an altitude of 1,500 meters, the skin is exposed to 20% more UVB’s than at sea level?
Well, I didn’t and got skin rasher, something I have never had before. Being a “ginger” I know how important it is to be careful in the sun and even in the shade. That being the case I had no experience with sun protection as well as how to protect my skin that apparently had become intolerant to the sun.
It was so bad that even after 5 minutes in the shade and a SPF 30 I got new rashers.
All right then, only one thing to do: find a pharmacy – this should not be a complicated task but since I am in France and my French sucks (pardon my French!) I was not a happy camper.
When I entered the pharmacy I noticed they had a special offer of the day and as you can imagine – lots of customers.
I did my trick that works every time, I found the most expensive brand and took a good look at it – and yes with the speed of light a shop assistant approached and no she did not speak English (didn’t ask her about her Danish skills
)
So I showed her my skin and she asked (showed) me if it itched – my answer was no. Long story short she found the right sun protector for intolerant skin for me.
The creme is white and stays that way on your skin, which does not exactly makes you look more pretty but you can check that all your skin is covered, it also contains minerals that will be absorbed by the skin, not sure how healthy that is.
Amazingly enough it worked I am free of rashers but still cannot go out in the sun with “normal” SFP 30.
… yes I bought the expensive cream – Avene Cream for Intolerant Skin 1.35oz
– and yes I used to live a sea level in Denmark.
